Bear Claw Media was started by two former Bears who want to give the world more exposure to the University of Northern Colorado sports teams. Chris and I (Ben) met at The UNC Mirror where we covered sports for the University Newspaper and became good friends. Life has its craziness since college, but one thing that remains the same is that “It’s a GREAT day to be a UNC Bear”.

Here at Bear Claw Media you can expect recaps, analytics, and our insight into UNC sports primarily. We will also have stories on other colleges around the state and pro sports when we have a unique take or opinion on their current events. This site is a fun way for us former writers to give a spotlight to UNC athletics and give a Bear’s opinion on other relevant events in OUR STATE, GO BEARS!

Ben Schleiger

Hey y’all,

My name is Ben Schleiger and I am a ’19 grad from beautiful University of Northern Colorado. I majored in Psychology and minored in Political Science with time spent in three honor societies, being a supervisor at the Michener Library on campus, and most of all, many hours at UNC sports events and the Mirror Newsroom. UNC was easy to love, but friends, the beautiful campus, the sports teams, and The Mirror inspired my love of sports coverage/ analytics.

Since then life has changed a hundred times over, but some things remain the same is the love of sports, writing, and UNC. While I am not a paid writer I have written for the following: UNC Mirror Sports Editor/ Lead Sports Reporter, Mile High Maniac, The Johnstown Breeze, College Sports Journal, and Redshirt Sports.

Chris loves creating music with his band Big Aluminum, basketball, a good IPA, his doggo & wife, and procrastinating his bio. He has also been a reporter & sports editor for the UNC Mirror, as well as high school sports coverage reporter for the Greeley Tribune & Johnstown Breeze.
