CFL Football – Northern Colorado Nightmare Decisively Shutout Loveland Elite

The Northern Colorado Nightmare routed the Loveland Elite Saturday Night in The Boneyard at District 6 Stadium. The Loveland Elite were defeated coming into the bout and continued their losing streak to five losses in a row this season. Meanwhile, the Nightmare continue to play dominant football and extend their unbeaten streak.

The Nightmare methodically drove down the field so that Quarterback #2 Julian Banks could dump a pass off to Running Back #25 D’Heaven Domena in the end zone. This first score would be the start of a busy night for Domena as he would score four more times. The Nightmare defense stayed busy in the Elite backfield with numerous sacks, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries.

Nightmare linebacker #44 Jake Shoenhofer terrorized the edge of the offensive line and middle of the field including an interception. Birthday boy and Nightmare linebacker #5 Trent Fahrenbruch joined the turnover train as he secured himself a fumble recovery and several tackles. Defensive Back #18 Marcell Tyler also wreaked havoc in the secondary with a few deflections and an interception.

Overall, the Nightmare showcased a dominant performance in the first half 33-0 over the Elite. Due to the prosperity of the offense in the first half the Nightmare gave #1 Steph Mamuvich some reps at quarterback. Mamuvich performed decently with one rushing touchdown and one interception to end the night. Wide Receiver #19 Justice Atkins had the fanciest feet of the night as he made at least four defenders miss tackles on a 20+ yard catch and run into the end zone.

The only real struggle for the Nightmare was getting consistent point-after-attempts for #17 Topher Ahrens and company. The usually automatic kicker was just a bit off timing and accuracy wise with his unit and the uprights.

The Northern Colorado Nightmare set up a commanding lead over the rest of the Championship Football League with a 5-0 record and 245 points forced to 17 allowed points. The Nightmare’s next opponent is the second place Denver Sharks (4-1) who will travel to The Boneyard at District 6 Stadium on June 29th at 7pm MT.
